The disadvantage is that there are easily air holes inside, which cannot be heat-treated.
Gravity casting relies on the self weight of aluminum liquid to fill the mold, with simple equipment and low cost. This process is used for aluminum alloy gravity castings, aluminum gravity casting bases, and cast aluminum pump casings. Dense organization, heat treatable, suitable for thick walled components. The disadvantage is low efficiency and the surface is not as smooth as die-casting.
Large quantities of thin-walled parts are selected for die-casting, while thick walled load-bearing parts are selected for gravity. Die casting for automotive shells and electrical components; Pump casing, bracket, and base use gravity.
